BUPYEONG: “The Little Dongdaemun”

BUPYEONG: “The Little Dongdaemun”
In the Philippines, if you want to buy cheap goods or items sold at a wholesale price you should go to Divisoria or Baclaran. The “Bagsakan” Whole sale center of the Philippines, It is where middlemen and retailers sell their items at a VERY CHEAP price…
In Korea, Dongdaemun is the name.
The Market is located near Dongdaemun of which it takes its name. The market has 26 shopping malls situated over 10 blocks, 30,000 speciality shops, and 50,000 manufacturers. The market sells all types of goods but notablysilks and fabric, clothes, shoes and leather goods, sporting goods, plumbing and electronics, office supplies, fortune tellers, toys and food areas specializing in Korean cuisine. It also has many pet shops.
The market was traditionally a night market and wholesalers once operated from 1:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Now, the area is open for 18 ½ hours a day from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., with some stores open 24 hours a day, although most stores close on Mondays and holidays.

Most Tourists go to Doota and other Shopping Complex. Like the Philippines, some sellers will give you a high price so you have to haggle and sometimes make a drama that you will leave the place and look for other stalls selling the same item.
Since our school is located in Bucheon City , Bupyeong is more accessible from us like Dongdaemun the price is relatively low, but do not expect signature items, those sold here are local goods but has a good quality. If you want to escape the hassle and traffic at Dongdaemun, Bupyeong is the best substitute. Plus, the area is not too big so it’s not that confusing when it comes to buying your desired items.
